rrweb records what happens in the browser and replays it exactly as users experienced it. It's the engine inside many of your favorite tools, used in production by teams around the world and kept alive by a community of contributors and sponsors.

rrweb began in 2018 with Yanzhen Yu. What started as one engineer's experiment is now the recording engine inside products like Sentry, PostHog, and Datadog, maintained by a global team. There's a short documentary about how it came to be (English subtitles). Worth a watch.

We've been maintaining rrweb together since 2020: reviewing PRs, shipping releases, and answering issues from a community spread across every timezone.

By the maintainers of rrweb.rrweb Cloud is the hosted version of the project: session replay in production, without the infrastructure. It's also our long-term plan for keeping rrweb sustainable: if Cloud works, it funds maintainer time on the open-source library, so the people doing the work can keep doing it.
